Sian Butler – About the artist:
Sian Butler has travelled and painted all around and throughout Australia. She has also travelled extensively in Southern Africa and Europe. Sian works mainly in watercolour, pastels and charcoal, painting a wide range of landscapes, plants, people, birds, wildlife, etc.
Sian is obviously very talented, but she also works very hard – spending many hours perfecting classical techniques, as well as pushing the boundaries by exploring and experimenting with new techniques. Sian is an inspiration to me in more ways than could be counted or expressed.
Sian is pronounced “Sharn” with a silent “r”, (or “Shahn”), and is the Welsh form of the name Jane. Sian and Jane are feminine forms of John, which means “God is gracious”.
Sian is very generous by nature, and can’t help herself but share her love of the beauty of the world around us.
Sian’s paintings (and life) are a tribute to God:
“These scenes are my response to the vast space of the Outback in this ancient island continent”.
“I paint as a personal form of worship because this is what I am called to do. I now feel the need to share my artwork”.
Even if you don’t know her, Sian is easy to spot in a crowd – she’ll be the one wearing bright, cheerful colours – and cheering up everyone around her, whether they want to be cheered up or not!
Sian shines!

Just a photo of a contrasting part of Australia – looking up at Daintree fan palms, in the hot, wet and humid, tropical climate of Cape Tribulation, North Queensland, (North Eastern Australia). Radically different to the Australian Outback (Central Australia).
The cool, wet, Tasmanian wilderness (South Eastern Australia) is also radically different to the desert landscapes of Outback Central Australia.

Hi Terry – Sian’s work is stunning. She has really captured the majestic spirit of the Australian outback. It’s a meditation looking at some of these images. Are any of these paintings for sale?
