Nkosi Sikele’ iAfrika – LORD Bless Africa

The song Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika is the national anthem of Tanzania and a portion of the national anthem of South Africa. The South African national anthem is the world’s favourite national anthem. (TimesLive.co.za 27 Dec 2017). For more information about Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika visit Wikipedia.

The original lyrics are by Enoch Sontonga, a Xhosa Methodist teacher, and the melody is based on the hymn tune “Aberystwyth” composed by Welshman Joseph Parry. The combination of the rich musical and singing traditions of Africa and Wales has resulted in a hauntingly beautiful song.
