Koala painting. Pastel and acrylic on watercolour paper. This is my Australian version of the three wise monkeys – the three wise koalas. I also put them in what I think is a logical order: if you see no evil, and hear no evil in the first place (gossip), you are less likely to talk about it.

I made up this image in my mind, but it is inspired by a black and white photo of a tree with Murchison falls in the background (Uganda, also called Kabalega falls), and Maletsunyane falls in Lesotho. Tiger painting. Pastel on watercolour paper. This is a tiger amongst bamboo – I did an earlier tiger painting of the same scene, showing the tiger at night with its eyes glowing, which I think is more dramatic, but most people who have not been spotlighting at night for wildlife did not understand what they were looking at. This is a daytime version.

Oil and acrylic on watercolour paper. This painting is based on a photo I took while kayaking around Fitzroy island. I liked the scene, but I was particularly interested in the challenge of painting the rippling, sparkling clear water, and the light reflected off the water and onto the granite boulders.
